Press Release: SafeShowings App selected to participate in The Harbor Entrepreneur Center Program

SafeShowings, an app created to deter crimes committed against real estate professionals and homeowners, is one of seven businesses selected to participate in The Harbor Entrepreneur Center’s Accelerator Program in Cohort 11. The Harbor Accelerator is a 14-week business accelerator program designed to support growth of scalable businesses in the Charleston region. Each participating startup is provided resources and support to grow rapidly, test the market quickly, and become viable.

The Cohort 11 group of the Accelerator Program will run from August through November 2019. Members of the group must have the capacity to work more than 40 hours per week on the initiative; attend a weekly 90-minute class; attend meetings with mentors; and be prepared to make four-minute pitches to mentors, community members, peers, and more throughout program.

Mentors of the Cohort 11 group of the Accelerator Program include,

  • Jim Adamczyk- founder of Adamczyk Consulting.
  • Stuart Bascomb- CEO and chair at QualSight and owner of CLN Properties LLC.
  • Eric Bowman- owner of the Charleston Battery Soccer Team.
  • Jim Bozard- founder and chair of Coastal Corrugated, Inc. and co-founder/co-owner at Pinnacle Corrugated LLC.
  • Patrick Bryant- co-founder of The Harbor Entrepreneur Center and partner at Code/+/Trust.
  • Jenny Glasgow- founder and medical case manager at ProjectWorks.
  • Noah Leask- president and CEO at APC Data Analytics LLC, owner and founder at AE Fit, and co-founder and chair at ISHPI.
  • AJ Leone- managing member at Main Gate Management, LLC
  • John Osborne- co-founder and director of The Harbor Entrepreneur Center, founder of The Strive Cup, founder of fundingcharleston.com, and executive administrator of Charleston Angel Partners.
  • Stacey Segal- vice president of BrightVine Solutions.
  • Sam Staley- founder and CEO at Bidr and co-founder of Code/+/Trust.

Real estate professionals can now securely capture and validate the identity of those they bring into a home. SafeShowings is a new app and the first of its kind, created to deter crimes committed against real estate professionals and homeowners. SafeShowings was created by, Helen Hudson who as a Realtor, has feared for her safety on numerous occasions. After learning of the increase of real estate professionals who have been murdered on the job, Hudson decided it was time to advocate for safe guards for the real estate industry and listing clients. SafeShowings makes it easy to request and securely record driver’s licenses while out in the field prior to entering a home.

 

In addition to securely recording a driver’s license, there are several additional features, to include: an open house option which enables the real estate professional to quickly and easily capture images of everyone who crosses through the door during a set time. There is also a feature that enables the user to alert emergency contacts as well as dial 911 with just a click of a button.

“Selling Your House? New SafeShowings App Verifies Visitors”

Between private home showings and public open house events, selling your house can bring a slew of strangers through your door. There’s a new app to help you and your real estate professional keep track of who’s who: SafeShowings, available now for iOS and Android. The SafeShowings app provides an easy, mobile way for real estate professionals to scan in visitors’ drivers licenses prior to showing a home. The app stores an image of the individual’s license alongside the listing info and agent information. It keeps an ongoing list of people who have entered the home and when they were there, which can then be accessed via the app or on the web.
